Credit and recognition of prior learning

Students who have previous study from Monash or another tertiary institution are eligible to apply for credit for successfully completed units. The faculty policy on the types of credit awarded is located on the faculty website at http://www.sci.monash.edu.au. Credit is not normally assessed prior to an offer of a place being made and will not normally be granted for studies completed more than 10 years ago.

The faculty endeavours to assess applications for credit prior to enrolment, however, this is not always possible. Commencing students should therefore discuss their eligibility for credit with faculty student services staff.

The criteria used to determine credit are the standard and content of previous studies and the relevance of previous study to the course. Unless otherwise advised, students must provide syllabus outlines for units for which credit is sough as well as certified copies of results to the faculty office by the application closing date. Applications and associated documentation received after the closing date may delay resolution of credit and affect current enrolment.

Application forms for credit are available from the website at http://www.monash.edu.my/Student-services/SA/Admissions/credit.htm

The university policy on recognition of prior learning can be found on the website at http://www.adm.monash.edu.au/unisec/academicpolicies/policy/priorlearning.html.
