Current Research Projects:

Bioactivity studies, isolation and characterization of bioactive compounds from the following plant species:

  • Etlingera spp. (E.elatior, E. rubrostriata, E. littoralis, E. fulgens)
  • herbal ferns (Blechnum orientale, Dicranopteris linearis, Drynaria quercifolia,D. rigidula, etc.)
  • tropical ornamental plants (Cassia syrattensis, Caesalpinia pulcherrima, Bauhinia bidentata)
  • Leaves and fruits of Phaleria macrocarpa,
  • Hibiscus spp. (H. mutabilis, H. rosa-sinensis, H. schizopetalus, H. taiwanensis, H. sabdariffa, H. tiliaceus )

Prospective Research Projects:

Projects on bioactivity studies, isolation and characterization of bioactive compounds of selected tropical herbal plants will be offered. The effects of processing (conventional heat, microwave irradiation and freeze-drying) on their activities are to be investigated.
